Re: Friday Night Music Thread
recently discovered the music-charity 'Playing for Change', various Artist from around the world contribute to a tune, the link below is to Grateful Dead's 'Ripple', awesome up there with the original (Album will be released in April, songs released weekly on YouTube).

my second choice is Bruce Springsteen's live version of New York Serenade, probably my favourite Boss song (available direct from his website).

last song is a tad personal when I woke up from my recent coma, Andra Day 'Rise Up', a beautiful meaningful song.

Re: Friday Night Music Thread
Dylan is weird one in that a fair percentage of the definitive versions of his songs are covers.

Re: Friday Night Music Thread

Debs.

Dylan is probably the most 'covered' writer in music history. As for the song i mentioned there are plenty of covers out there,K T Tungstall probably being the most well known of them.

By the way i love the old bastards voice.

Good call on Whats Going on O1BB..has anyone covered that Dylan song. I cant stand listening to Dylan sing .. his songs are much better when other people have done them. His singing voice is not nice.

Re: Friday Night Music Thread
As for songs I'd like to have written...
..although I have been in bands for yonks I much prefer jamming as am a terrible songwriter. Have written two half decent ones in 40 years and the things you can come up with on the spot if you are all pulling in the same direction are far for more interesting. The fact they are ephemeral makes them special.

Knee play 5 - Philip Glass
Absolutely beautiful and reduces me to tears every time.
